Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona currently has an opportunity available for an RN to work with Apheresis/Ambulatory Infusion. This Inpatient/365 Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of direct nursing care (e.g., conscious sedation, complex patient assessment, and high risk procedures) and has the required knowledge, skills, and competencies. Provides patient/family education and discharge planning.
Associate's degree in nursing or diploma in nursing required; BSN preferred. Minimum one year of work experience as a Registered Nurse. Current RN licensure from Arizona or another state participating in the nurse licensure compact. Basic Life support (BLS) completion preferred on hire; BLS must be completed within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter. ECG competency completed satisfactorily within six months of hire and maintained annually. Maintains ACLS and PALS as required by specific units. Maintains specialty certification per unit guidelines.
Availability to work flexible hours that may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong computer skills preferred. Apheresis, dialysis, CRRT experience strongly preferred.
Minimum pay of $31.88/hr for this position, hours are day/evening (12 hour shifts). The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine announces the search for an Assistant Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine. As an integral part of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the section of Transfusion Medicine oversees a sophisticated and active Transfusion Service and Therapeutic Apheresis Service. Temple University Hospital is a 746-bed teaching hospital located on Temple University's Health Sciences Center Campus at Broad and Ontario Streets in Philadelphia. The hospital provides patients with ready access to an exceptional group of physicians in every specialty and primary care field. These doctors include the nationally recognized faculty of the Temple University School of Medicine, who are supported by the advanced resources of its major teaching hospital.
The hospital has a typical patient unit consisting of 34 beds, 22 operating rooms, and 4 Cardiac Catheterization labs. There is an Active Therapeutic Aphaeresis Service that conducted 112 procedures in 2010. The Active Transplant Programs consist of Heart Transplant, Lung Transplant, Heart & Lung Transplant, Liver Transplant, Renal Transplant, and Bone Marrow Transplant.
The selected candidate will be an MD/DO with active Board Certification in Clinical Pathology (or Internal Medicine) with established credentials and an interest in teaching. Experience in therapeutic apheresis and/or blood donor service is a plus, and candidates must also be certified in Transfusion Medicine.

Experienced RN will perform all aspects of therapeutic apheresis procedures on both adult and pediatric population in a mobile setting per Standard Operating Procedures. RN will also perform procedures for clinical trials or other investigational studies.
Responsibilities include:
• Independent performance of all mobile and fixed site Therapeutic Apheresis procedures
• Administration of blood products and medications
• Patient assessment, evaluation and intervention
• Documentation of procedures
• Operation of equipment needed to perform procedures
• Provide high level of Customer Service to patients and hospitals
RN must have or be able to apply for current NY, NJ and CT state licensure.
Current CPR/BCLS is also required.
Valid Driver’s license and willingness to travel as part of job responsibilities
Minimum of 3 years as a RN, with IV Certification. Critical Care and/or Hemodialysis experience preferred. Hospital Med/Surg experience
Must be able to perform physical assessment, IV access and blood product administration.

The Apheresis Technologist in the Pathology Department
performs volunteer apheresis procedures and whole blood collections. Recruits,
interviews, and processes volunteer donors for apheresis and whole blood
collections. Responsible for the prompt, efficient and accurate performance,
validation and reporting of waived laboratory test results, which are utilized
to determine blood donor eligibility. Complies with all requirements of the
institution, regulatory agencies and adheres to the Blood Donor Center Quality
Program. Conducts translational/basic research and development activities.
Under the supervision of the Manager-Blood Donor Center, the Apheresis
Technologist is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled and may work
under the guidance of the Nurse Coordinator.

7:30 a.m - 6:00 p.m. No weekends and/or holidays
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
·Bachelor's degree or completion of medical
technology program or equivalent in concordance with current federal and state
