The

The Therapeutic
Programs Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the

Maintaining logs and records of procedures performed in the apheresis.
Performing calculations and tabulates data for administrative and
scientific
reports. Attending and participating in hospital committees and
meetings.
The
Supervisor Apheresis is responsible for assuring compliance with
Section C of FACT standards, also knowledge of the 21 CFR 1271 GTP
regulations. This Supervisor Apheresis has the authority to coordinate
an initiate transplant collection procedures based upon pre-collection
data. This position also has the authority to supervise the staff to the
Stem Cell Therapy Lab which includes overseeing workload and daily lab
operations, testing, reporting, equipment and supplies. Reviews work of
supervised technical personnel and provides assurances pertaining to
acceptable and consistent performance. Major challenges encountered by
the incumbent include coordinating the patient workflow from two
separate transplant centers and resolving technical problems associated
with stem cell collections: cell yield, patient/donor reactions,
equipment failure, etc. The incumbent ensures that the best possible
results occur from testing for quality patient care.

Transfusion Medicine Associates (TMA) is currently looking for several Part-
Time/Per-Diem Apheresis Nurses. We have five (5) private offices located
throughout Southern and Northern California and will train the right person if
interested in treating our patients.
Qualified candidates must have a current CA RN license and is working in an
apheresis, transfusion medicine/blood donor program; hemodialysis experience
will be considered as well. Additionally, we require a minimum 3 to 5 years of
critical/ICU nursing, and strong IV skills. Successful candidates must be flexible,
have strong adapting skills, as well as excellent communications, interpersonal
skills and must be a team player.
Hours and days vary – however a usual ldl-apheresis treatment averages about 6
hours. We only have day shifts available.

General Summary/Overview Statement
NeoStem is managing a network of adult stem cell collection centers in major metropolitan areas in the United States, enabling people to donate and store their own (autologous) stem cells when they are young and healthy for their personal use in times of future medical need. Opportunity to be part of a fast growing, well capitalized, international public company specializing in Adult Stem Cells. Company is looking for a Director of Clinical Operations who is directly responsible for the daily work activities and operation of the NeoStem Donor Program and Client Apheresis Services and Collection Centers (“Network”), as well as the Quality Assurance program of the Network and regulatory responsibilities. This includes onsite visits and support. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs all technical, managerial, computer related and clinical aspects of the Network. Reviews and manages donation practices to maintain high standards of client and donor care. Provides technical expertise, assistance and supervision for all aspects of the daily operation of the Network.
- Provides communication between physicians, clients and the collection centers on important medical and administrative issues
- Responsible for the maintenance of technical and administrative operations in accordance with standards as set forth by NeoStem, various State regulations and regulatory agencies including FDA, AABB, JC, CLIA, HIPAA and FACT.
- Develops, implements and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with department policies developed for the Network in order to meet regulatory requirements. Works in conjunction with the President, Chief Medical Officer, and staff to ensure that SOPs are kept up-to-date and revisions made in a timely and accurate manner.
- Works in conjunction with the President, the Collection Care Coordinators and the recruitment team to increase collections. Enthusiastically encourages increased collections and program growth. Works in conjunction with the President to set goals for collections.
- Supervises the training and orientation of new collection centers within the Network and new personnel. Participates in the development, review, and implementation of training protocols and training plans.
- Measures and evaluates site activities, providing statistical reports as required. Prepares, evaluates and presents the Donor/Apheresis Center data for NeoStem as needed/directed.
- Responsible for implementation of quality assurance program including review of records, proficiency testing, and documentation of corrective action. Maintains compliance with hospital standards and those of outside regulatory agencies. Develop Compliance Unit to assure and improve the quality of outcomes.
- Assures appropriate and timely deferrals of donors according to standard operating procedures and policies.
- Participates in the interview and selection process of hiring new staff in conjunction with the Collection Care Coordinator program and field clinical support personnel.
- Responsible for documentation of on-going competency of all staff in accordance with Network and regulatory standards.
- Develops/updates performance appraisal plans and participates in evaluation of all staff. Determines staffing needs and administers personnel policies (i.e. as related to hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary activities).
- Conducts performance evaluations on staff to assure ongoing competencies Takes disciplinary action when appropriate in conjunction and with guidance from the President.
- Coordinates assignments to meet the daily and variable needs of the Donor/ Apheresis services-- Monitors work assignments and schedules.
- Represents NeoStem at the Collection Centers and during other Company clinical, trade show or promotional activities per the President.
- Assists in the preparation of operating and capital budgets in conjunction with the President and Chief Financial Officer.
- Provides input regarding departmental needs for supplies and staffing for day to day operations and for yearly budgeting. Maintains efficient and cost effective operations and assists in cost benefit analysis to evaluate and recommend expenditures and program policies and activities.
- Ensures that all billing is done in an accurate and efficient manner. Assists President, Chief Financial Officer and Collection Care Coordinators in reviewing fees and services to ensure for proper billing compliance.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance of equipment and implementation of new equipment. Provides expertise in all areas of equipment operation and in clinical procedures for blood collection and apheresis.
- Promotes spirit of professionalism and excellence in performance to the staff. Keeps informed and up to date on developments in the field, encourages same in staff members. Promotes continuing education throughout the organization.
- Complies with all medical safety requirements. Is knowledgeable about SOP policies concerning fire drills, OSHA regulations, hazardous waste management, chemical hygiene plan, and radiation safety.
- Takes call for oversight of computer system.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Previous management experience required and preferred Blood Donor /Apheresis management experience

Stanford Blood Center: Automated Collections Manager

Friendly, energetic individual needed to oversee automated blood collection procedures and staff at the Blood Donor Center. Will plan, develop, implement and evaluate operations, processes and procedures for automated red cell, platelet and plasma collections for allogeneic, research, autologous or designated blood donors. Will develop programs to educate and guide donors into the program(s) for which they are best suited based on blood center directives with the goal of collecting the optimal number of components from each donor. Responsible for automated blood collections and related equipment validations, procedures and forms, equipment procurement and maintenance. Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff, including hiring, discipline, and evaluation. Performs automated apheresis utilizing multiple technologies or acts as Charge Nurse, filling in for absences; performs daily History Card and PDIF reviews when required, and other scheduled audits as assigned. Plans and coordinates collection aspects of research protocols and clinical trials requiring automated collection. Performs analysis of overall automated blood collection performance using statistical tools to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement. Develops and maintains training plans; coordinates, schedules and may perform supplementary employee training for automated collections processes and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist or SBB, with minimum of two years related blood bank experience required. History of progressively responsible positions in Nursing or Healthcare Management required. Two-year minimum degree required. Experience and demonstrated competency on multiple types of automated blood collection technologies required. Use of Microsoft Word required; familiarity with other Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and PowerPoint preferred. Experience in therapeutic apheresis preferred. Superior customer-oriented attitude, ability to cooperatively reach solutions and ability to successfully negotiate difficult interpersonal situations required. Must exemplify customer services attitude. Excellent oral and written communications in English required; bilingual oral and written proficiency preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:
